Reverse past practice and fight for contract violations.
Years of trading concessions for job security has left us with fewer jobs. We can reestablish honor, regular pay increases, and local control over local grievance issues, but we must FIGHT. A new leadership can prepare all members to fight back and empower rank-and-file members to vote down concessionary acts.
Build solidarity in our diverse union.
We need a united membership to win substantial contracts. Racism, sexism, and all forms of bigotry and oppression weaken our union and need to be eradicated from our workplaces. We also need solidarity with all workers’ struggles, from Starbucks to Amazon to workers around the globe.
New organizing to win substantial contracts.
The Local 418 must successfully organize new workplaces in the electric vehicles, battery, and related industries to maintain its strength and ensure a just transition for postal workers.
Build a more democratic, member-run union.
Reverse the obscene corruption of officers; raise funds by organizing new members and recruit old members. One Member, One Vote was only the beginning. We must further empower the membership and local unions.
